Celebrating Lily of the Nile
November 15, 2010-January 1, 2001
Stephanie Dray’s debut novel, Lily of the Nile, releases January 2011 and to celebrate its launch, she has a number of activities lined up. We hope you’ll take part, spread the word, do good deeds, and have lots of fun in the process.
The Free Goodies
Subscribers to Stephanie’s newsletter will be entered in a drawing to win a number of goodies including a signed copy of Lily of the Nile, an ankh charm, a bookmark, and a Cleopatra Action figure. All you have to do to enter is subscribe to the newsletter, but you get an extra entry in the drawing for spreading the word using Facebook, Twitter, MySpace or your blog. Simply post your link below.
The Good Deeds
Like the Egyptians she writes about, Stephanie is a cat lover. She lives with three cats of her own, has fostered countless others, bottle fed kittens and transformed her spare bedroom into a nursery for a momma cat and her babies. For each of the first one-hundred new subscribers to Stephanie’s newsletter before December 15th, she will make a 50 cent donation donation to PetSmart Charities and a 50 cent donation to her local Adopt A Pet Center (a no kill shelter). If you’d like to help out, all you have to do is subscribe to the newsletter and tell your friends to do the same! Hopefully, in the spirit of the season, some folks will match my donations to help animals when they most need it.

The Fun
If you’re an aspiring young female writer, don’t forget to enter the Cleopatra Literary Contest for Young Women. Sponsored by Stephanie Dray, you’ll have the chance to win fabulous prizes like an e-reader, critiques and a mentorship. No contest fees or purchase necessary. Even if you aren’t an aspiring young female writer yourself, you probably know one or two, and we hope that you’ll spread the word!

Tweeted the contest — happy Saturnalia!
And you’re our winner! Please email me with the information about where I should send the goodies!
I enjoyed the excerpt you sent me and I can’t wait to read the rest.
Thanks for the giveaway – I love the action figure!
I blogged about the giveaway here:

Thank you for the chance to win the book! I’ve been looking forward to it for a while (Selene Cleopatra is a fascinating story in and of itself).

I’ve looked forward to this book ever since I first heard about it. I know next to nothing about ancient Egypt, but I love history and exploring new places, so I look forward to reading the story whether I win a copy or not. ;D I tweeted you here: http://twitter.com/ronempress/status/15843546070253568

I’m fascinated with books about Egypt. I loved Memoirs of Cleopatra and Cleopatra’s Daughter. I’m so happy that now there is a new author to give us her own unique story about Selene Cleopatra
I’ve decided to extend the contest till the New Year!
Thank you so much everyone! This morning I counted up my new newsletter subscribers and made a donation to PetSmart Charities in honor of Bast. I will drop off the donation check to Adopt-A-Pet this week. In the meantime, using a random weighted system thanks to Liz Pelletier, our winner is Audra!
I’ll be in touch with Audra to make arrangements, but I wanted to thank everyone for helping make the launch of my debut novel a success. I’ve already heard that books are showing up on shelves. Hopefully folks will use their holiday gift cards to embrace Cleopatra Selene!
Congratulations, Audra! Hey, Stephanie. I’m not sure if what I’m receiving is from this blog entry or from your newsletter, but my spam catcher keeps telling me I’m receiving something about Lily of the Nile. It tells me the message looks suspicious to the “Smart Screen Filter” and it won’t let me read the email. I will try to figure out how to approve things about “Lily,” but I thought I’d let you know they’re getting caught by spam catchers.
Thanks for letting me know, Victoria. I assume it’s the comments from this blog because I haven’t sent a newsletter since last month. I’ll see what I can do to avoid the spam filters! Also, thank you for spreading the word. I wish I had enough free books for everyone who helped out, but I’ll try to make sure that everybody knows about other opportunities.
Yes, I had another one in my inbox from your comment. ;D It comes through as sender “unknown,” which is why it thinks it’s spam. I even put your domain as a safe domain and it made no difference.
