Carnivalia for Book Lovers in Baltimore This Weekend #bbf2012

What could be better than a book festival with free admission, tons of give-aways and prizes, roving gladiators and highlanders,  panels for every reader ranging from literary fiction to historical fiction, and sessions for aspiring authors to pitch their work to editors and agents? I’ll tell you what’s better than that. NOTHING!

So if you’re anywhere in the Baltimore area this weekend, put this on your calendar!

I have the absolute best swag to give away this weekend, including Egyptian Goddess Perfume in carved stone pots! Historical Novel Society authors like Kate Quinn, Sophie Perinot, Janet Mullany, Kate Dolan, Sharon Buchbinder and Eliza Knight will all be there. And I may just do a reading or two from my upcoming books. Here’s my schedule for the weekend:

Saturday

 

1pm-2pm What is Women’s Fiction
(Maryland Romance Writer’s Stage)
Authors talk about what defines women’s fiction, how it differs from romance, and offer readings from their latest works. Giveaways/Raffles Authors include: Stephanie Dray, Lisa Verge Higgins, Sophie Perinot, Kate Quinn and Hope Tarr.

2pm-3pm Crossing Genres Panel
(Science Fiction/Fantasy Writer’s Association Tent)
Science fiction and fantasy have joined forces with many other popular genres. Come hear about our cross-over to other types of fiction, including mystery, graphic novels, historical fiction, and romance. Panelists include: Laura Ann Gilman, Stephanie Dray, Harry Heckel, Carmen Ferreiro-Estban, and Phillippa Ballantine.

3pm-4pm Book Readings & Signing
(Science Fiction/Fantasy Writer’s Association Tent)
Come listen to SFWA authors read from their work, engage them in Q&A, and win great prizes! Panelists include: Stephanie Dray, Laura Ann Gilman, Harry Heckel and Carmen Ferreiro-Esteba.

5:45 pm Sex and the Historical Fiction Author
(Maryland Romance Writer’s Stage)
Authors talk about the role of romance and sex in writing and telling a story of historical fiction and offer readings from their latest works. Giveaways/Raffles Authors include: Stephanie Dray, Sophie Perinot and Kate Quinn.

7pm SFWA Reception
(Science Fiction/Fantasy Writer’s Association Tent)

Join SFWA for a reception and autograph session with authors from the Science Fiction and Fantasy Writers of America. Enjoy good conversation, soft live music, and plenty of food and drink.

5-6pm Making Old Stories New
(Maryland Romance Writer’s Stage)
Authors present on how to create engaging fiction based on fairy tales, folklore, mythology, and history, and how to make those old stories new, fresh, and exciting.
